John Clare Countryside Projects

John Clare country is rich and diverse in nature, including wildflower grasslands, wildlife friendly wetlands, flourishing woodlands, village greens and nature friendly gardens. All these places provide homes and habitats for an array of wildlife. We want to create even more habitats and homes for our dwindling wildlife through tree planting, the creation of green corridors and wildflower meadows. Our aim is that every corner of John Clare Countryside is as inviting to nature as possible.

Landowner Engagement

We aim to support and advise farmers and landowners in the area on how they could use their land more sustainably and in environmentally friendly ways.

Urban Outreach

Building stronger bridges between Peterborough and the wider John Clare Countryside through nature focused walks and cultural events with a focus on mental health and wellbeing and education.

Torpel Way improvements

The Torpel Way runs from North Bretton, through Milton Estate up all the way up to Stamford and has been used by people for centuries. Bainton Sheep wash

Plans are being drawn up to replace the medieval  style fencing around the sheep wash at Bainton this year, which, after 20 years, has come to the end of its life. The grass areas within the fencing are also now going to become wildflower meadows.
